For most of human history, periods have been left to girls and women to discuss in hushed circles and segregated sex education classrooms and to manage on their own quietly and discreetly.

 

However, 2015 was declared by Cosmopolitan magazine as the "Year of the Period" with stories about menstruation making headlines.

 

This short documentary tackles the stigma around menstruation by highlighting the work of four bold women reshaping the way periods are seen in the United States.
